Rajata Mahotsava of Jyoti Samskritika Prathishthana
On 12th May, a large gathering at the Shankarapuram Math witnessed the Silver Jubilee function of Jyoti Samskritika Prathishthana, an institution based in Bangalore for the propagation of Vedic values and tradition and being run with the Blessings of the Sringeri Jagaduru. The seventh volume of the Kannada translation of the Krishna Yajur Veda containing the fifth and sixth Prashnas of the second Kandam of the the Taittiriya Samhita. Sri V R Gowrishankar, Administrator of the Peetham, pointed out that Jagadguru Sri Abhinava Vidyatirtha Mahaswamigal’s final visit to Bangalore was to release one of the early volumes of the translation effort taken up by the Prathisthana. After releasing the book, the Jagadguru in His Anugraha Bhashana pointed out that the Shastras emphatically declare the futility of the lives of those, who despite being qualified for the the study of the Vedas, refrain from doing so and become successful in other fields. Sri Adi Shankara Bhagavatpada’s first Upadesha is “Vedo nityam Adheeyataam” – Study the Vedas daily. It is quite unfortunate that most people today are not even in a position to understand the significance of the Vedas. Even those who can help others understand the exalted position of the Vedas are few in number. The Jagadguru emphasized the need to learn atleast necessary hymns such as Sri Rudram and Sri Purusha Suktam and the Upanishad Mantras with proper pronunciations and intonations. He commended the efforts of the Prathisthana and blessed that the task of translating the entire Krishna Yajur Veda be successfully completed by the Grace of Goddess Sharada.
