Mahashivaratri celebrations at Mumbai Math

With the benign blessings of Jagadguru Shankaracharya Sri Bharati Tirtha Mahaswamigal, Maha-Shivarathri was celebrated at Sri Sringeri Shankara Math in Chembur, Mumbai with great devotion and fervour. In the morning about sixteen local pandits performed Mahanyasa-Poorvaka Ekadasha Rudrabhishekam and Sri Rudra Homam. In the evening, Math pandits commenced the 1st Yaama Pooja with Guru Vandanam. Mahanyasa-Poorvaka Rudra-Abhishekam was performed to the Maragata Lingam blessed by the Jagadguru to the Branch Math. The chanting was done by over 50 Grihastha devotees, most of whom were the vidyarthis of Sri Abhinava Vidyatheertha Veda Samskrita Patashala run at the Math. Around 500 devotees attended the pooja. The other 3 Yaama poojas were also performed by Math pandits. The 4th Yaama pooja was over around 6.00 am on 13th Feb.2010 and Maha Mangala Aarathi was performed at 6.15 am.
