Varshikotsava of Sadvidya Sanjeevini Samskrita Mahapathashala

The 115th Varshikotsava of Sri Sadvidya Sanjeevini Samskrita Mahapathashala took place on 12th March 2010. Jagadguru Shankaracharya Sri Sri Bharati Tirtha Mahaswamiji graced the function held in the morning to commemorate the event. Dr. Sannidhanam Sudarshana Sharma, Vice-Chancellor of Sri Venkateswara Vedic University in His Sanskrit speech spoke about the knowledge tradition of India. The Mahaswamiji released Sadvidya, the Pathashala Souvenir and gave a Sanskrit Anugraha Bhashanam. In His Anugraha Bhashanam, the Mahaswamiji mentioned the qualities of a Vedic student as stated in Yaska’s Nirukta and the Smritis. The scriptures advise that the actions, thoughts and speech of a student must be aligned and in conformance with each other. A student must be free from jealousy, and must strive to excel. As part of the event, Vidyarthis were awarded prizes for their successful endeavours. In the evening, a cultural programme was conducted by the Vidyarthis that included a Sanskrit drama “Haasya vikaasah”, and a Kannada Yakshagana depicting Rukmini Kalyanam.

  • An ideal disciple will indeed act as per the Guru’s instructions and not give place to thoughts as “Is it possible for me to do as he says? Shall I try something else?” If we follow our Guru’s instructions, it does not mean that we are unintelligent. It only implies that we have surrendered for our own good to a power superior to us.
