Benedictory discourse delivered by the Jagadguru on the occassion of Centenary Celebrations at Kalady


 

Following is the benedictory discourse delivered by Jagadguru Shankaracharya of the Dakshinamnaya Sri Sringeri Sharada Peetham, Sri Bharati Tirtha Mahaswamiji on the 23rd of May 2010 in the evening after the Kumbhabhishekam of the temples of Sri Adi Shankaracharya and Sri Sharadamba at Kalady on the occassion of the Centenary celebrations of the rediscovery of the birth place of Sri Adi Shankaracharya in Kalady, Kerala in India by the 33rd Shankaracharya of the Dakshinamnaya Sri Sringeri Sharada Peetham, Jagadguru Sri Sacchidananda Shivabhinava Narasimha Bharati Mahaswamiji. The speech is preceded by a benedictory speech by the Swamiji of the Shivaganga Math.

  • An ideal disciple will indeed act as per the Guru’s instructions and not give place to thoughts as “Is it possible for me to do as he says? Shall I try something else?” If we follow our Guru’s instructions, it does not mean that we are unintelligent. It only implies that we have surrendered for our own good to a power superior to us.
