Vijaya Yatra of the Jagadguru concludes

The 404 day Vijaya Yatra undertaken by the Jagadguru Shankaracharya Sri Sri Bharati Tirtha Mahaswamiji in the South Indian states of Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh concluded today, Friday, the fifth of April 2013 when the Jagadguru returned to Sringeri at around 6:00 PM.

The Jagadguru was accorded a memorable welcome by the denizens of Sringeri with  grand procession in a specially built “ratha” from the town entrance. The grand procession which had many floats was led by Veda Ghosha and Mangala Vadya.

Upon the entering the Math premises, the Jagadguru alighted from the specially built “ratha” and proceeded to the temple of Goddess Sharadamba, the presiding deity of the Peetham, where He had darshan of the Goddess. This was followed by a Swagata and Guruvandana function held at the Jagadguru Chandrashekhara Bharati Mahaswamiji Sabha Bhavana in the Math premises. Dhuli-pada-puja was performed by the Administrator and CEO of the Math, Guruseva Dhurina Sri V. R. Gowrishankar. Many dignitaries spoke during the occassion.

Thousands of devotees, especially from Sringeri and adjoining villages had gathered at the Sri Math premises to have darshan of the Jagadguru and also to listen to the Anugraha Bhashanam of the Jagadguru. The event culminated with a spectacular show of fireworks at around 10:15 PM.
