Sri Sharada Sharan-Navaratri celebrations Commence at Sringeri


 

The Annual Sharada Sharannavaratri celebrations, conducted in accordance with the traditions of the Sri Matha, commenced today.

Jagadguru Shankaracharya Sri Sri Sri Bharati Tirtha Mahasannidhanam performed special puja to Goddess Sri Sharadamba as a part of the nine day festival. Maha-Mangala-Aratrika took place at around 11:15 AM heralding the completion of the special puja.

Thence, special puja was also performed by Jagadguru Sri Sri Sri Vidhushekhara Bharati Sannidhanam. This puja concluded with the Maha-Mangala-Aratrika at around 2:15 PM.

The Ubhaya Jagadgurus will continue to perform special pujas in the morning till Maha-Navami.

Chaturveda Parayana

In accordance with the age old tradition, Parayana of the four Vedas namely Rigveda, Yajurveda, Samaveda, and Atharva-veda will take place during the nine days. The Parayana , performed by veteran scholars of the respective Vedas also commenced today with the blessings of the Jagadgurus.

Ithasa and Purana Parayana

Parayana of Srimad Valmiki Ramayanam, Srimad Bhagavata Maha-Puranam, Sri Vishnu Maha-Puranam, Suta Samhita, Srimad Devi Bhagavatam and other classical texts ancillary to the Vedas also commenced today.

The Parayana of the aforementioned texts will conclude on Vijaya Dashami.

Darbar

In continuation of the age old tradition of the Sri Matha, Jagadguru Sri Sri Sri Vidhushekhara Bharati Sannidhanam will preside over the Durbar which will be conducted at the temple of Sri Sharadamba throughout the nine days.

Normally all devotees are allowed to attend this Durbar. However due to the prevailing pandemic and concerns over public health and well being, in accordance with Government advisory , this year, no public will be allowed. Notwithstanding this, for the benefit of all devotees, all the events including the morning Pujas by the Ubhaya Jagadgurus and the Durbar will telecast live on Sri Sankara TV.
