Brahmasri Tangirala Venkateshwara Avadhani Smaraka Pathashala

Brahmasri Tangirala Venkateshwara Avadhani was the revered father in the Poorvashrama of Jagadguru Shankaracharya Sri Bharati Tirtha Mahasannidhanam. He was born on the Phalguna Krishna Dashami day in the Raudra Samvatsara (1921) and became a scholar of the Krishna Yajur Veda. Having led a pious life of austerity and devotion to Bhagavan and the Sringeri Jagadguru, he shed his mortal coil in 2006.

Since 2009, his family members led by his son, Brahmasri Tangirala Dakshinamurthy, have been conducting an annual Veda Sabha on his Janma Tithi in the Sringeri Shankara Math in Narasaraopet. In commemoration of his birth centenary in 2021, the house that Brahmasri Avadhani lived in was donated to Sringeri Math by Brahmasri Tangirala Dakshinamurthy. It is in this house that Sri Mahasannidhanam spent most of His Poorvashrama years.

In 2022, coinciding with the 101st birth anniversary (Phalguna Krishna Dashami – March 27) of Brahmasri Venkateshwara Avadhani, a Pathashala with the name “Brahmasri Tangirala Venkateshwara Avadhani Smaraka Pathashala” has been started in his sacred memory with the blessings of the Sringeri Jagadgurus at the same spot in Narasaraopet.

  • An ideal disciple will indeed act as per the Guru’s instructions and not give place to thoughts as “Is it possible for me to do as he says? Shall I try something else?” If we follow our Guru’s instructions, it does not mean that we are unintelligent. It only implies that we have surrendered for our own good to a power superior to us.
