Mahaganapati Vakyartha Vidwat Sabha


Jagadguru Sri Sannidhanam with scholars who participated with the Vidwat Sabha

The annual Mahaganapati Vakyartha Vidwat Sabha for the ensuing Shubhakrit Samvatsara commenced at 4:30 PM on September 18, 2023 (Vinayaka Chaturthi day) with the blessings of Sringeri Jagadguru Shankaracharya Sri Sri Bharati Tirtha Mahasannidhanam & under the presidentship  of the Jagadguru Sri Sri Vidhushekhara Bharati Sannidhanam. The Sabha proceedings began with a Vakyartha (Shastric deliberation) by Sri Sannidhanam in Nyaya Shastra. The Sabha that began on such an auspicious note, took place for 13 days at Sri Sacchidananda Vilas in Narasimha Vanam and ended on September 30, 2023.

Scholars well versed in the Shastras of Vedanta, Mimamsa, Nyaya and Vyakarana from various parts of the country took part in the Sadas. The Sabha took place every evening. On each day, the Sabha ended with Mahamangalarati to Lord Sabha Ganapati, Ashtaavadhaana Seva followed by the chanting of Ganesha Pancharatnam composed by Jagadguru Sri Adi Shankaracharya and Ganadhipa Pancharatnam composed by Jagadguru Sri Sacchidananda Shivabhinava Nrisimha Bharati Mahaswamiji.

On the Ekadashi day, Sri Sannidhanam blessed the sabha with a Vedantic exposition.

The Sabha concluded on September 30, 2023 with a Valedictory function in the divine presence of Jagadguru Sri Sannidhanam. Sri Sannidhanam released three books on the occasion. The first book released was Brahma Sutra Bhashya of Jagadguru Sri Adi Shankaracharya along with Bhashyartha Ratnamala, a rendering of the Bhashya in verse, penned by Vidvan Akshantala Subrahmanya Shastri. This book was brought out as the 27th publication of Sri Bharati Tirtha Veda Shastra Granthamala of Sri Shankara Advaita Research Centre of Sringeri Math.

The second book released was the 2nd edition of “Tattva Chintamani Vivechanam – Shabda Khanda” authored by Sri Chandrashekhara Bharati, a Sannyasi disciple of 20th Sringeri Jagadguru Sri Ramachandra Bharati Mahaswamiji.tr

Sri Sannidhanam then released “Vidwat Pratibha 2022”, the book containing summaries of topics discussed in the Vidwat Sabha the previous year.

Sri Sannidhanam in His Sanskrit Anugraha Bhashanam stated that the tradition of conducting the Mahaganapati Vakyartha Sabha was commenced more than a century ago by His Parapara Guru, Jagadguru Sri Sacchidananda Shivabhinava Narasimha Bharati Mahaswamiji. Sri Sannidhanam also stated that it is a matter of great joy that new young scholars who have been mentored by the senior Vidwans of this Sabha have been performing very well in the Sabha.

Gold rings were awarded to Vidwan Chandrashekhara Shastri Joshi (Nyaya) of Satara, Vidwan EN Narayanan (Vyakarana) of Kerala and Vidwan Sowjanya Kumar (Mimamsa) of Chennai.
