Jagadguru Sri Sannidhanam visits Sri Kamakshi Amman temple on Janma Nakshatra day of Goddess Sri Kamakshi
As part of the ongoing Vijaya Yatra, Jagadguru Sri Sannidhanam arrived at the Sri Kamakshi Amman temple in Kanchipuram to Poornakumbha Swagata at around 9:30 am on October 27, 2024. The day being the auspicious Janma Nakshatra day of Goddess Sri Kamakshi, the archakas and temple authorities offered a devout welcome to Sri Sannidhanam at the entrance of the temple.
Sri Sannidhanam was then reverentially led by the authorities to the Gayatri Mandapa right in front of the Garbha Griha of Goddess Sri Kamakshi. . Sri Sannidhanam was seated near Simha Vahana in the Mandapa. With flowers sanctified by the divine touch of Sri Sannidhanam, the Archakas performed Archana to the chant of Sri Devi Khadgamala and Sri Lalita Trishati. Special Vastras, a gold necklace with a pendant depicting a hamsa studded with uncut diamonds, emeralds, and rubies, as well as a silver plate to place flowers for performing Archana, were offered to Goddess Kamakshi on behalf of the Sringeri Math. After the Mahamangalarati was performed, the Archakas offered Prasada & Sheshavastra to Sri Sannidhanam.
While at the temple, Sri Sannidhanam also had Darshan of the Utsava Murti of Goddess Sri Kamakshi, Sri Varahi, Sri Aroopa Lakshmi, Sri Soundarya Lakshmi, Chora Narayana and Sri Shasta, and then had Darshan at the Adi Shankara Sannidhi (Tapas Sthala indicative of the time spent in dhyana before continuing His Digvijaya).
Subsequently, in a short Sabha organised at the Shukravara Mandapa in the temple premises, a beautiful gold-plated metal carving of Goddess Kamakshi was offered to Jagadguru Sri Sannidhanam. The authorities also showed the temple records indicating the offering of a necklace studded with precious stones made by Jagadguru Sri Vriddha Narasimha Bharati Mahaswamiji in the 19th century.
After receiving the blessings of Jagadguru Sri Sannidhanam, the temple authorities led by temple Srikaryam Sri Sundaresa Iyer, as well as officials of the Kanchi Math present on the occasion, were honoured by Sringeri Math CEO Guru Seva Nirata Sri PA Murali.
Sri Sannidhanam then did Pradakshina along the outer Praakaara of the temple, and had darshan of the temple Pushkarini and Sri Ashtabhuja Durgamba.
At around 10:45 am, Sri Sannidhanam came out of Sri Kamakshi Amman temple and then proceeded to the Adi Kamakshi temple, had Darshan and performed Mahamangalarati. Sri Sannidhanam also visited Sri Sharada Navaratri Mandapa in the temple and performed Mangalarati to the Utsava Murti in the temple.
Sri Sannidhanam also then had Darshan at the temple of Sri Ulagalandha Perumal Temple, dedicated to Bhagavan Vishnu in His Vamana Avatara and is one of the 108 Divya Deshams.
Sri Sannidhanam also proceeded to have Darshan at the 8th century Kailasanathar temple, built by the Pallavas and famous for its many sculptures depicting many incidents from the Puranas.
At noon, Sri Sannidhanam returned to the Sringeri Shankara Math where devotees thronged to have Darshan, performed Pada Puja and offered Bhiksha Vandanam.
